Kentucky Butter Cake

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare the Cake Batter:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
    • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  3. Bake the Cake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Prepare the Butter Glaze:
    • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar and water, and bring to a boil.
    • Reduce heat and simmer for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Finish the Cake:
    • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and place on a wire rack.
    • While the cake is still warm, pour the butter glaze evenly over the cake. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
