Although ants are generally harmless, they can become a real nuisance when they invade our homes. To avoid using chemicals that may be harmful to your health, here are nine effective tricks to prevent ants from entering your home and dealing with them if they do.
1.Identify and Seal Entry Points: If you notice a line of ants, trace their path to find their entry point. Seal this opening with silicone or plaster to prevent further access. Even if ants are not currently visible, inspect for cracks or gaps that could serve as entry points and seal them.
2.Clean Up Ant Trails: Use a sponge soaked in soap and water to clean up ants inside the house. This method removes the pheromone trails that ants follow, helping to discourage future infestations. Note that while it’s okay to remove ants indoors, those outside play a role in balancing other insect populations.
3.Keep Plants Away from Entry Points: Ensure that plants on your balcony or in your garden are placed away from the entrance to your home. If you have a lawn, keep plants and garden beds well away from the house.
