Chicken Cordon Bleu Lasagna

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook the Lasagna Noodles: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions, about 8 minutes, until tender but still firm. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the White Sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cream cheese and whisk until it begins to melt, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the hot milk until smooth. Stir in 1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese and continue to cook, whisking frequently, until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens, about 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the Lasagna:
    • Spread 3/4 cup of the cheese sauce on the bottom of a 9×9-inch baking dish.
    • Layer 1/3 of the lasagna noodles over the sauce.
    • Top with 1/2 of the cooked chicken and 1/2 of the ham.
    • Spoon 1 cup of cheese sauce over the chicken and ham.
    • Add another layer of 1/2 of the remaining noodles, followed by the remaining chicken, remaining ham, and 1 cup of cheese sauce.
    • Repeat the layering process.
    • Finish with the remaining noodles, cheese sauce, 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, and Italian seasoning. Cover with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake the Lasagna: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbling. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  6. Cool and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
